In the Main Event, Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper w/Buddy Rogers at ringside, faced Magnum Terry Allen and United States Champion Wahoo McDaniel.

Late in the match, Wahoo busted Hogan open and the two men fought in the ring. Outside the ring, Piper and Allen went at it. At this point, Young had lost control of the match and had no choice but to issue a double disqualification at 24:09 as both teams fought for several more minutes before heading to the back.

A special treat for the fans in Charleston, West Virginia, when Andre the Giant came to town to face arch rival, The Big Cat, Ernie Ladd.
Ladd got on the microphone before Andre came out and said he would “lift Andre the Dummy over his head and toss him into the stands!” Once Andre came out it was Ladd backing out of the ring and telling fans at ringside to shut up. The match started with Ladd in control, using his taped thumb in Andre’s throat. This infuriated the Giant and Andre went on the attack. He pounded Ladd from one end of the ring to the other. Several times Ladd tried to escape, but Andre brought him back. Ricky Johnson came to ringside to encourage Ladd but at one point, Andre rammed Johnson and Ladd’s heads together. Johnson was able to slip a foreign object into Ladd’s hands and he used it to bloody Andre when referee Stu Schwartz was distracted by Johnson. Andre finally got the object away and threw it out of the ring. Once he got his hands on Ladd again, Andre went wild. Ladd was able to get free and it looked like Johnson was going to charge the ring but getting on the ring apron. Ladd ran past Johnson to get out of the ring and head back to the dressing room. Schwartz counted Ladd out as Andre grabbed Ricky Johnson and flung him around the ring before squashing him in the center of the ring. Andre won by countout at 15:22.

Columbia, South Carolina
Columbia Township Auditorium
Friday January 25, 1983  Bell: 7:30pm

Two guys who really do not like each other met in Columbia, Magnum Terry Allen faced Rowdy Roddy Piper.
The two men attacked each other before the bell sounded as Allen was still in his leather jacket and Piper still in his kilt. The two men rolled all over the mat, punching and hitting each other. At one point Piper bit Allen on the nose, Allen escaped by gouging Piper’s eyes. Once the match left the ring all heck broke loose as both men took turns ramming each other into anything they could find. Neither man had any regard for Sonny Fargo’s 10 count as both men were counted out at 9:31. But it didn’t end there. Piper smashed Allen with a chair knocking him to the ground. He dragged the bloody Allen back in the ring and started pummeling him. Allen was able to roll Piper over and smash his head into the mat and punched time and again in the face. This time Piper was bleeding and Allen threw his opponent over the top rope. Piper hit the floor with a thud. Allen followed him out and bashed him with the same chair Piper had used on him. Finally, wrestlers from the back came out to separate them as both men vowed revenge against the other.

A new tag team in Mid Atlantic Wrestling made their debut in Beckley, when Abdullah the Butcher and Bruiser Brody faced the team of Ricky Johnson and The Masked Raven, accompanied by Ernie Ladd.
The fans booed Ladd and his tag team and cheered the sight of Abdullah the Butcher and Bruiser Brody.  Brody chased Ladd from the ring early on as Abdullah went after Johnson and Raven. Ladd’s men were able to get a brief advantage on Abdullah, but when Brody hit the ring, the advantage was no more. Brody took the battle to Raven and Johnson. Working together, Brody and Abby isolated Raven and Brody hit him with a knee coming off the ropes, Abdullah was tagged in and finished the masked man off with a flying elbowsmash at 7:00. After the match, Ladd quickly left the ringside area and Brody stood in the middle of the ring and yelled, “ANDERSONS!” while Abdullah smiled maniacally.

Rowdy Roddy Piper took on Magnum Terry Allen.
Both men were wearing bandages on their heads from the night before. As Referee Tommy Young was giving the instructions, both men stood inches apart eying each other, beak to beak. When the bell rang, both men stood there standing face to face with each other, unflinching. Finally Roddy slugged Allen and it was on!

The two men tore into each other with reckless abandonment and nothing was off limits. At one point, Piper hit Allen low to regain an advantage. A few moments later Piper snared Allen in a headlock. Magnum pick up Piper, looking like he was going to side suplex his opponent. As Roddy prepared to be suplexed, Allen dropped him crotch first on the top ropes causing Piper to fall over the ropes and out of the ring. Allen continued his attack on Piper outside of the ring. Piper fought back eventually but had his head rammed into the ring post for his trouble. The two men were able to get back inside the ring before the count, but the violence continued for several more minutes. As the two men bloodied each other up they stopped listening to the referee and both were disqualified at 15:01. Young ordered wrestlers from the back to come out and separate the two men.

Six Man Tag action was the main event as The Iron Sheik, Kim Duk, and Ernie Ladd faced off with Harley Davidson and The Rock-n-Roll Express, Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson.
The villains attacked before the bell and knocked Gibson and Davidson out of the ring. Once order was restored, The Iron Sheik took Ricky Morton to task. Young Morton stayed in the ring for nearly 10 minutes facing Duk, Sheik and Ladd at different times. Once Morton made the tag, Gibson came in and worked on Duk. The balance of the match evened out for a while. Later in the match, all six men were in the ring. Davidson, the legal man in the ring, got rid of Ladd when The Big Cat illegally interfered. Morton was able to get rid of Duk.  The Iron Sheik, the other legal man in the ring, was then hit with a double dropkick by Morton and Gibson and was pinned by Davidson at 22:31.

It was a Six Man Tag Team Elimination Match in the Main Event as Hulk Hogan, Larry Zbyszko, and Roddy Piper w/Buddy Rogers squared off against Paul Jones, Magnum Terry Allen, and United States Heavyweight Champion Wahoo McDaniel.
Piper and Allen were itching to get at each other, but it was Jones and Hogan that started the match. Hogan, using his power moves, totally underestimated Jones, who was able to use Hogan’s strength against him, keeping him off balance and nailing him with a couple of leg-clip tackles. When Hogan’s butt hit the mat a few times and the crowd was laughing at him, he took Jones a lot more seriously after that. Unfortunately for Paul, he would be the first one eliminated when Piper pinned him as Rogers knocked his leg off the ropes at 10:10.

This left Wahoo and Allen to face Piper, Hogan and Zbyszko. Allen jumped in the ring. Piper quickly tagged in Zbyszko. Zbyszko had problems against Allen and even more against Wahoo. But it was Allen pinning Larry to even the odds at 17:57.

Hogan came in to square off against Allen. Hogan got the advantage on Allen and nearly pinned him with a powerslam. Hogan tried several more attempts and Rogers tried to help each time, but Allen kicked out. This brought Paul Jones back to ringside. Rogers complained but Jones stood away from the ring. Hogan tagged in Piper who went to work on Allen, hitting several corkscrew neckbreakers on his rival. When Piper tried to pin Allen, Allen put his foot on the ropes. Rogers knocked it off, Jones put it back on the ropes and then chased Rogers back to the dressing room.

Allen started getting his second wind and fought back against his hated opponent. Soon Piper and Allen were duking it out in the middle of the ring. Allen knocked Piper from the ring and the two fought on the floor where they both were counted out at 21:05.

This left, Wahoo McDaniel to face off against Hulk Hogan. Hogan wanted no part of McDaniel at first but was able to sucker punch him to get an advantage. Wahoo fought back but Hogan threw him from the ring and opened him up by ramming him into the ringpost. Hogan then suplexed Wahoo back into the ring. The Hulk went for a cover but only got two.

The fans rallied behind Wahoo and The Chief made a comeback and eventually split Hogan open with a series of chops to the head. Both men were a bloody mess as Hogan went for another suplex but Wahoo shifted his weight and came down on top of Hogan. Wahoo got the win at 34:59 despite Hogan’s foot being on the ropes.

The Iron Sheik put his Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title on the line against Harley Davidson.
The Sheik started the match strong with several suplexes and backbreakers on Davidson. Davidson couldn’t match Sheik hold for hold and went on the offensive the Tennessee way, with his fists. The crowd cheered Davidson has he gained the advantage. At the 22 minute mark in a see-saw match, The Sheik loaded up his boot and attempted to kick the hillbilly in the belly. Davidson caught the foot and spun The Sheik around and clobbered him with a haymaker right hand. Sensing he was about to lose his belt, The Iron Sheik jumped from the ring and went back to the dressing room giving Davidson the countout win at 23:19.

Davidson and Sheik has to be stealing some of these shows. Piper and Magnum are really giving the crowds everything they could want. Brody and Abby could demolish or disintegrate at any time. Wahoo just keeps rolling. I came off my chair when Jones punched Rogers. Ladd and Andre would have had my money.

Great shows.

Good house shows, both for business (double the cash coming in) and the results. Makes sense the 'biggest' match was saved for Charleston, but Andre-Ladd, or Allen-Piper is nothing to sneeze at either. OK, maybe not Shiek/Duk/Ladd vs. Davidson & the Rock 'n' Roll's, but Wytheville should be happy Mid-Atlantic is showing up. Smiley
