This will be an abbreviated version of the Mid Atlantic TV Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling Taped 1/29/83, hosts: David Crockett and Bob Caudle. World Wide Wrestling Taped 1/29/83, hosts Rich Landrum and Johnny Weaver. The United States Heavyweight Title: - Wahoo McDaniel says he is willing to put the title on the line against anyone including former champion, Harley Race and Hulk Hogan. He says we are going to find out just how bad Hogan wants it. - Hulk Hogan countered later in the show that when he faces Wahoo in the ring, the “little Indian is going to be headed back to the reservation.” =====0000==== The Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Title: - The Iron Sheik says he is currently the longest reigning champion in Mid-Atlantic Wrestling. He says the competition is so bad, he could be champion forever. - Harley Davidson admitted in a separate segment, that The Iron Sheik is a tough competitor but said he owes it to the Mid Atlantic fans to rid the area of the “Iranian Monster”. ====0000==== The Atlantic States Tag Team Titles: - ASTTC Ole and Arn Anderson and Arn says they want a shot at the NWA World Tag Team Titles held by Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood. Ole says it’s time to bring the world titles back where they belong, to the Andersons. - David Crockett tells Ole they have a tape from a tag team that is looking for them. Crockett plays a tape of Abdullah the Butcher and Bruiser Brody taking on The Masked Raven and Ricky Johnson from Beckley, West Virginia. Arn looks a bit worried as Ole says it’s everything the Scotts and the Crocketts can do to protect Steamboat and Youngblood. He says, “If we have to face those two idiots, we will and they will fall just like everyone else!” - The Andersons went to the ring to face their opponents, Keith Larson and Buzz Tyler, in the televised match. Ole and Arn ran roughshod over Larson, but Tyler was a different story. Tyler took the match to both Ole and Arn and matched them with a hard hitting assault. Unfortunately for Tyler and Larson, it was Larson getting pinned by Arn at 9:12. But when, Ole and Arn tried to make an example of Larson after the match, Buzz Tyler would have none of it and protected his partner fighting both Andersons. He was soon joined by Johnny Weaver, Paul Jones and Tracy Smothers and the Anderson left soon thereafter. ===000==== The NWA Television Title: - New Champion Mark Youngblood says he is willing to defend the title against all comers and then successfully defended the belt on television against Golden Boy Grey in a good match. - Larry Zbyszko along with Buddy Rogers, told Bob Caudle he is looking for a match against Youngblood. - Ernie Ladd and George Wells both mentioned Youngblood’s day as champion will be few. ====0000===== The return of Rip Hawk: - Longtime Mid Atlantic Wrestling legend Rip Hawk returned to the area on World Wide Wrestling. As he walked by Johnny Weaver, he turned his head and gave Johnny “The Profile” look as he approached Rich Landrum. He was joined by Kim Duk and returning to the area, Eddy Mansfield. Hawk says he is here to lead these great men to the top of the wrestling world. Hawk says The Continental Lover “reminds me of another young guy I helped make into a real man, only Eddy is better looking, more talented and has a smaller nose.” - Hawk told Landrum, that Kim Duk no longer goes by that name. He says from now on, Duk will be known as “The Oriental Assassin, Tiger Chung Lee!” - With that, Hawk accompanied Mansfield to the ring where he beat Brickhouse Brown with a figure four leg lock in 8:12. ========0000============ Ernie Ladd: - Ernie Ladd, on World Wide Wrestling announced the formation of “The Nation of Ladd.” He was joined by Master G (George Wells) and Superfreak Rick Johnson. Ladd says soon “The Nation” will dominate the area and be controlling all of the gold, starting with “that no good little gypsy boy, Mark Youngblood and the NWA TV Title!” - Ladd then tells G and Johnson he has a surprise for them. He then brings out a dark haired woman with an athletic build dressed like she came out of a “Flock of Seagulls” video. Ladd introduces her as “The Secretary of The Nation of Ladd, Miss Linda.” She walks by G and Johnson touching them with a large white feather before she smiles and goes over to Ladd. - Ladd calls Linda the smartest woman “Here in Hillbilly Land, because she has upped her game!” Ladd laughs and “The Nation” begins to walk off, but not before Johnson gets a word in, “Guess who won’t be going back!” Superfreak smiles and laughs as he leaves with the rest of his crew. ==============0000=============== Magnum Terry Allen/Rowdy Roddy Piper Feud: - Early in the Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling program Roddy Piper blindsided Allen and the two fought until they had to be broken apart. - Later in the show Piper was wrestling in a rare television match against King Cobra, when Allen hit the ring and the two fought until the locker room cleared to separate the two men. - On World Wide Wrestling while Allen was wrestling Red Dog Larry Lane, Roddy Piper attacked him. The two fought for several minutes until Piper clocked Allen with the bell at ringside. Other wrestlers came out to ward Piper off and help Allen to the back. - At the end of the show after Piper had beaten Tracy Smothers by holding the ropes for the pin, Roddy pulled out the Tennessee state flag and taunted Smothers as he burned it. While Smothers was held back by referees Stu Schwartz and Sonny Fargo and couldn’t get to Piper, suddenly Allen appears out of nowhere with a five gallon bucket of water and douses Piper and the burning flag with it. The bucket ends up on Piper’s head as Allen connects with a couple of body shots before ramming Roddy head-in-bucket first into the ring post. The fans go crazy as Piper falls to the ground and Allen continues the attack as the show goes off the air.
