Can-Am Heavyweight Championship Tournament Stampede House Show at the Civic Center Butte, Montana January 27 1983 Can-Am Heavyweight Title Tournament Round 1 Billy Robinson (Heartland) Vs Bruce Hart (Stampede) This is a great wrestling match that puts old school mat wrestling as well as the high flying, high impact moves of Hart. The match ends with a butterfly suplex from Robinson to Hart for the pin. (20min 43sec) Winner: Billy Robinson (Heartland) Curt Hennig (Heartland) Vs "The Stomper" Archie Gouldie (Stampede) Hennig tries to outwrestle Gouldie, but the size of Gouldie is too much at this point to stop. The match ends when Gouldie catches Hennig with a huge boot to the face that puts down Hennig for the three. (11min 10sec) Winner: “The Stomper” Archie Gouldie (Stampede) Jumbo Tsuruta (Heartland) Vs Jim Neidhart (Stampede) Tsuruta keeps up with the size of Neidhart, being 6’6”, 290lbs himself. It is a hard hitting, hard striking match that sees Jumbo come out on top after catching Neidhart in a bridging German suplex for the three. (14min 55sec) Winner: Jumbo Tsuruta (Heartland) Kendo Nagasaki (Heartland) Vs Jos Leduc (Stampede) Nagasaki tries everything he can, but Leduc is just too big and strong. Leduc ends the match when Nagasaki spits the green mist in to the eyes of Leduc, right in front of the ref. This causes the DQ win for the Canadian lumberjack. (9min 10sec) Winner: Jos Leduc (Stampede) Can-Am Heavyweight Title Tournament Round 2 Billy Robinson (Heartland) Vs "The Stomper" Archie Gouldie (Stampede) Robinson takes it right to “The Stomper” and while Stomper is bigger and stronger, Robinson uses his ring knowledge to take down and defeat the man from Calgary in a small package for the win. (13min 8sec) Winner: Billy Robinson (Heartland) Jumbo Tsuruta (Heartland) Vs Jos Leduc (Stampede) A still blinded Leduc, even though he is still strong as an ox, is no match for a rested, former Olympian wrestler. Tsuruta defeats Leduc via pinfall in short order after hitting a lariat that stuns Leduc. (6min 59sec) Winner: Jumbo Tsuruta (Heartland) Can-Am Heavyweight Title Tournament Final Billy Robinson (Heartland) Vs Jumbo Tsuruta (Heartland) This is a match classic that has two great wrestlers fighting for a top title in the sport. In a great clinic that has counters and counters for counters, this epic match ends when Robinson delivers a double arm suplex to Tsuruta that keeps the Japanese wrestler down for three. (32min 19sec) Winner and new Can-Am Heavyweight Champion: Billy Robinson
