AWA Mid-South Championship (2-8-83) at the Irish McNeil Boy's Club in Sherveport, La. The show opens video action clips of Mid-South stars North American Heavyweight Champ Junkyard Dog, the Mid-South Tag Team Champs The Spoiler & 'Maniac' Mark Lewin w/mgr. 'Playboy' Gary Hart, The Rogeau Brothers, 'Dirty' Dick Murdoch, "Killer" Karl Kox, Mid-South Jr. H. Champ Hiro Matsuda w/mgr. Rock Hunter, Brass Knuckles Champ 'Bruiser' Brody, Mr. Wrestling Tim Woods, Professor Tora Tanaka & Tatsumi Fujinami with manager Rock Hunter, Mid-South Ladies Champ Sherri Martel, Tom Pritchard and AWA World Champs Jerry 'King' Lawler, tag team champs Jesse Ventura & Adrian Adonis and jr. champ Tiger Mask before the Mid-South logo hits the screen as we fade to the studio desk with the announcing team of "Cowboy" Bill Watts and Boyd Pierce. At the desk, Bill & Boyd welcome the fans back to another hour of AWA Mid-South Wrestling. Boyd says they have a big announcement for the fans. The Spoiler & 'Maniac' Mark Lewin w/mgr. 'Playboy' Gary Hart are the new Mid-South Tag Team Champs after beating the Rougeau Brothers in Alexandria, La. on Feb. 5. ,On today's show is 'Handsome' Harley Race, Mid-South Brass Knuckes Champ 'Bruiser' Brody and AWA World's Heavyweight Champ Jerry 'The King' Lawler. Watts sais he expects things to really heat with North American Heavyweight Champ Junkyard Dog here who is looking for a title match with the new champ Lawler. Race and Brody have already stated that are after Lawler as well, making the champ a marked man. Out comes 'Killer' Karl Kox who publicly issues a challenge to Brody for the Brass Knuckles Championship. This brings out Brody who tells Kox he can get a shot at the title anytime Mid-South signs the match. Kox calls Brody a coward and Bruiser responds with a fist to the jaw of Killer, that sends him to the floor and scurying back to the dressing room. Bruiser says again he will take on anybody anytime & anyplace before leaving for the ring. First Match. Non-title Single Match. 1 fall 10-minute time limit. Mid South Brass Knuckles Champ 'Bruiser' Brody over Frank Savage with a boot to the head and a legdrop for the victory at the 6:10 mark. Commercial break includes local interviews Before the start of the next match, Jacques & Raymond Rougeau are interviewed by Reiser Bowden about losing the tag team belts to Hart's Army. Jacques said Hart was responsible interfering and cost them the belts. The Rougeua's state they will get the belts back. Second Match. Six Man Tag Team Match. 1 fall 10-minute time limit. Tom Pritachard & The Rogeau Brothers (Jacques & Raymond) by disq. over Mid-South Jr. Champ Hiro Matsuda, Prof. Tora Tanaka & Tatsumi Fujinami w.mgr. Rock Hunter when Pritchard and Fujinami are disqualifed for both me hitting referee Alfred Neeley. Following the match, Hunter tells Bowden that Mr. Hito had to return to Japan on family business and he has brought in the upcoming Tatsumi Fujinami to take his place. Hunter says it is unfortunate the Rougeaus lost the belts to Hart's Army as his team holds a non-title win over the former champs last week. Rock says he stills wants a title match for his stable. Commercial break includes local interviews Third Match. Single Match. 1 fall 10-minute time limit. ;Handsome' Harley Race used a headbutt to take out a young John Tatum at the 6:01 mark. Following the match, Race joins Bill and goes on a rant about he is going to win the AWA World's Title but says he must win the North American Belt or Brass Knuckles Belt to get a title shot in Mid-South. So he challenges both Junkyard Dog and 'Bruiser' Brody to face him in the ring. Race claims Brody is dodging him across the AWA and doesn't have the guts to face him man to man. This brings out an angry Brody. Bruiser says Race shows up in places he knows Brody is not appearing in and challenges him, knowing he is not there. Brody tells Race he is here right night and if he calls him a coward one more time, Bruiser is going to wipe the studio up with 'Handsom' Harley! Race slaps Brody and they go at it. Bruiser gets the advanatage and Kox attacks Brody from behind, two on one attack. Seconds later, Junkyard Dog hits the studio arean and he is all over Race while Brody battles Kox until the dressing room seperates them. JYD and Brody shake hands and both men vow to defend their belts against Race or Kox. Commercial break includes local interviews Fourth Match. Single Match. 1 fall 10-minute time limit. 'Dirty' Dick Murdoch used the brainbuster on Sir Norman Frederick Charles III at the 6:13 mark. Following the match, a serious Murdoch says he is tired of this feud with Kox and wants it to be settled once and for all. He has a contract for a steele cage match with the loser to leave Mid-South for 1 year. Dick also adds that Lawler is on next and the King seems to have forgotten that Dick Murdoch is a former AWA World's Heavyweight Champ. Dick says he enjoyed being World;s cham and can do it again. So Lawler, be on your guard. Commercial break includes local interviews Before the beginning of the next match, Lawler talks with Watts & Pierce about all the so call challengers here in Mid-South. Jerry says he can handle any of them anytime and anyplace, including that old man Harley Race and Texas drunk Dick Murdoch. He heads to the ring for his match. Fifth Match. Non-Title Single Match. 1 fall 10-minute time limit. AWA World's Heavyweight Champ Jerry 'The King' Lawler had his hands full to start the match but used a piledriver at the end to beat one-time tag team partner Jim White at the 8:56 mark. (During the match, Harlley Race came out to the desk with Watts & Pierce to comment on the current champ which was a distraction to the champ.) Commercial break includes local interviews We return to the desk with Bill & Boyd to wrap up today's show with a taped interview from Alexandria with Gary Hart and the new Mid-South Tag Team Champs the Spoiler (Don Jardine) & 'Maniac' Mark Lewin who gloat over winning the belts and are looking forward to meeting the AWA World's Tag Team Champs Jessie Ventura & Adrian Adonis.
