AWA Mid South TV 2/16-A turning point
Feb 15th, 2013, 8:50pm

The following Television Broadcast was taped on the morning of February 16th 1983 at the Irish McNeil Boys Club in Shreveport Louisiana.

Your announcers for today’s broadcast are Boyd Pierce and ‘Cowboy’ Bill Watts.

Your referees for today’s matches are Alfred Nealy, Mac Murray, and Frankie Caine.

The American Wrestling Association presents MID SOUTH WRESTLING.

Giving Mississippi, Louisiana Oklahoma and Arkansas the absolute best in professional wrestling.

As we highlights of classic Mid South action over the voice over we fade to Boyd and the Cowboy.

Boyd says that this will be a special edition of Mid South Wrestling.  Grizzly Smith has decided to reward the fans and take care of a huge problem.  Dick Murdock and Killer Karl Kox have been brawling all over the area, at every house show.  They can’t get a decision with a disqualification.  So on television today inside of a steel cage we will see the Killer and Captain Redneck.  The loser will leave Mid South wrestling for one year.  The action will take place after these messages.

COMMERICAL BREAK WITH promos of cards throughout the Mid South region.

In an all out brawl that lasted through three commercial breaks Kox and Murdock leave it all in the ring.  Both men bleed buckets but as the big cowboy tells all the fans, the referee is only there to count the pin, any thing goes.  The match ends after Murdock delivers a second brainbuster to bloddy Kox after the killer gets his foot on the rope after the first.  Murdock leaves the ring and goes to the cowboy still bloody.  He says that he has eliminated Kox from Mid South and his goal now is set on one thing and one thing only.  Jerry Lawler had best grow eyes in the back of his head.  His goal is to be the AWA World Heavyweight Champion again.  Boyd and the Cowboy throw it to break saying that the standby matches are next.

COMMERICAL BREAK with promos of the stops that Mid South Wrestling will be taking this week.

Boyd is back, the cage is down but the mat still shows what Murdock and Kox left in the ring.  The former North American Tag Team Champions are in the ring and they go to the action.

Jacques and Raymond Rougeau versus Butch Malone and Jim Dalton

This match doesn’t get underway before the Cowboy and Boyd are joined by Gary Hart and the North American Tag Team Champions Mark Lewin and the Spoiler.  Raymond sees the champs and invites them to the ring.  The Spoiler, Lewin and Hart are giving them an earful.  The Rougeaus are responding with their attention on the title holders.  From behind a man in a hood and baggy pants grabs Jacques and hits him with a set of nun chucks.  The referee calls for the bell on the disqualification as the hood comes down to show the painted face of THE GREAT KABUKI.  Raymond gets a face full of the green mist, Malone and Dalton head for higher ground, as the North American Tag Champs hit the ring with their manager.  Hart shakes hands with Kabuki as Lewin and the Spoiler give both men spike piledrivers in the center of the ring.  Hart is cheering on his tag champs and holding Kabuki back.  The locker room empties as Hart’s crew leaves.  Watts is furious screaming at all of the men about fines.  Hart smiles as he goes by and Boyd goes to break as they try to settle all of this out.

COMMERICAL BREAK with promos for cards throughout the Mid South area.

We come back to both Rougeaus being taken out on stretchers.  Watts come to join Boyd after a moment saying that both men have movement but they want to do X rays to make sure the damage is not life threating.  The North American Champion, the Junkyard Dog comes out and says that he has had all of this he is going to take.  He is calling out Gary Hart next week on TV and for him to bring that masked freak, the freak that spews green stuff out of his mouth and Lewin to the ring.  He will find two men to team with him that will put an end Hart and his crew.  The Cowboy says it’s going to happen and Boyd says that the fans win again.  They invite the fans to tune in next week for more Mid South Wrestling.

It's good to see the real Kabuki running wild in the AWA.
Lewin and Spoiler sent a message to every tag-team in the AWA.
The Rougeau's were rudely dispatched but that's what happens when little boys attempt to play a man's game.

Man, that cage match going as long as it did and being as brutal as it was won't be forgotten by anybody sitting in front of a TV today. Lawler better watch out for Murdoch. Hart and his goons got the attention of kingpin JYD real quick. Can't wait for the six man next week.

James, you hit the ground running here.

Great job on your 1st Mid-South TV James!  Loved the cage match and finally Kabuki is with Hart as he should be.

Agree, you used a good recipe here to get started.  One lonnnng decisive match of great import.  Hart and his crew look as dangerous as ever.  Good focus, didn't try covering too much and skyrocketed the impact.

Wattsfan,

I hope you know that I am trying hard to fill your shoes, and it will be difficult.  I mean I wear 13 DDDD and it's still going to be hard.  I hope I can come close to your level.

Kox and Murdoch on TV? Wow, I thought I spoiled my fans in WCCW. That was awesomeness.
