Stampede TV When Junior champions collide
Feb 16th, 2013, 12:57am

Stampede Wrestling
Promoted By: The Foothills Athletic Club
Promoting: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, North West Territories, Montana
Promoter: Stu Hart
Under the Auspices of the American Wrestling Association, Verne Gagne President
Taped on: Friday February 15th 1983
Aired on: Saturday February 16th 1983

Announcer: Ed Whalen, Jim Davies (ring Announcer)
Referees: Cedric Hathaway, Wayne Hart, Jurgen Himmler, Ross Hart, Ron Hayter

**The opening plays, showing several Stampede stars of past and present, in action in short clips. We then join Ed Whalen sitting at the announcer's table at ringside.  Ed Whalen says he is happy to be back for another week in Stampede Wrestling there is a new North American champion when Mr. Hito defeated Leo Burke for the title. A huge week of action is going to start now. It is going to be a ring-a-ding-dong-dandy of a show. **
/
1. Owen Hart b. Goldie Rogers with a top rope missile dropkick

Owen tells Ed Whalen that last week he was cheated out of his win by Gallant. Next time they meet it will be different. The tricks only go as far as Owen will let them, but Owen is getting quicker at seeing them. Gallant is a cheat and that will be what will cost him. Owen will take him out.

2. The Tennessee Studs (Ken Wayne/Danny Davis) b. Ben Bassarab and Phil Lafleur with a double dropkick. Floyd Creatchman comes to ringside to cheer on The Studs and joins them at ringside.

Floyd Creatchman tells Ed Whalen that he has been looking for the right team and while he has had some success, never to the big amount that his Tennessee Studs will get. No Hart, no Japanese teams, no one else will ever take these guys on and win. All you top teams can step up because this team will be undefeated.
/
3. Mike Shaw b. Johnny Smith with the avalanche splash in to the corner, then the big splash on the mat for the pin. Smith was about to deliver a top rope body block but was pushed off the top rope by a mysterious man

Mike Shaw has that mysterious man with him and Ed Whalen. He tells Whalen that this is his Scottish cousin, Ben Doon McDonald and he is here to make sure those Harts keep everything fair. Shaw says that he has been screwed around too long and his cousin, at 6’1”, 310 lbs is just the man to make sure he is not screwed around again. McDonald speaks, telling the two Japanese midgets that hold the tag belts, soon enough it will be the two largest men in Stampede that will hold them titles.

4. International Tag Team Belts: Champions The Cobra and Super Strong Machine b. Rick Patterson and Karl “Butch” Moffat with a diving headbutt from SSM to Patterson

“The People’s Champion” Ron Ritchie makes his return to Stampede Wrestling. He lets Ed Whalen know that he is happy to be back in Stampede. He has seen a large group of guys come in and trash the Harts lately, or a bunch of people come through and trash Canada, but he is the Canadian “people’s champion” and that is not something he takes too lightly. If someone has something bad to say about Canada or it’s people, come out now and say it. This brings back out Ben Doon McDonald who tells Ritchie that while he has nothing against the wimpy Canadians, he does have something against Ritchie, who calls himself the “Peoples Champion”. McDonald says that he wants to make a statement with both his cousin and on his own so here is his personal statement. The fists start flying but Ritchie holds his own as the locker rooms clear the combatants.

5. AWA World Junior Belt: Champion Tiger Mask wrestled to a time limit draw Vs “The Great:” Gama Singh
/
/
Ending the show with a fade off to Ed Whalen saying “In the meantime….and in between time...that’s it…for another edition…of Stampede wrestling…Bye now”.

TV Ends
--------------------------------------------------------------
In dark bouts after TV:

Dynamite Kid b. David Finlay with touching all four posts in a chain match
North American Heavyweight Belt: Champion Mr. Hito b.  Kerry Brown with a school boy

awesome show.
Owen doesn't have the intelligence to defeat Gallant.
The Studs with Pretty Boy Floyd was a great move. A couple of young studs fit better with the young flashy Creatchman than they would with Foley.
McDonald set himself up in a big way on his debut show.
I hope to see more from Tiger Mask and Gama.

I would have paid good money to see the chain match. Weird to see The Nightmares working as the Studs, although I've heard they used that name IRL when they worked Calgary. When I hear "Tennesse Stud", I expect to see a Fuller, but Davis & Wayne are such a great team, I'll surely get past that. Waht little I've seen of Floyd Creatchman, he'll be great with them. Good, action packed show.

Mask and Singh will continue to draw down the road. Liking the developments of Ritchie and Shaw here. The Tennessee Studs have some real potential and I am sure that they will gleam a lot from Creatchman.

Super show.
