Southwest Championship Wrestling Broadcast Saturday Feb. 16, 1983 on The USA Network on cable tv Taped Wed. Due to the title changes on Thursday night, this was neccessary as this show was taped a day prior to those changes.) - New Southwest Champion Manny Fernandez said he took the belt off of The Spoiler for all the people here in the Southwest, and he promises to be a fighting champion. Spoiler has already signed for rematches, but he's not taking this belt back from him. - Mark Van Halen (Steve Strong) talked about his debut on Valentines day, and said that he'll give all the fans in tv land a treat next week when he's competing here live on tv next week. - Bobby Fulton of the Fantastics talked about how they lost the belts to The Fabulous Blondes on Valentine's night in Houston. He said his partner Tommy Roger's back is pretty messed up thanks to the cheating of the Blondes, but he'll be back in about three weeks so they can take the belts back from The Blondes. In the meantime, he and Ricky Romero are going to make life tough for the new champs Monday night in Killeen TX. - New Southwest Tag Team Champions The Fabulous Blondes talked about how good it is to be the champs again. They said they told everybody it was going to happen, so don't look so shocked. Tommy Rogers is a crybaby, and when he gets his diaper changed, he'll be back and they'll beat him up again. Fulton and Romero don't have a prayer Monday night. The second reign of the Blondes will be better than the first! - Highlights were shown of the wild brawl between Blackjack Mulligan and Tully Blanchard from Thursday night. Steve Stack said that Joe Blanchard has some kind of announcement to make here on tv next week regarding Tully and BJM. - Tito Santana talked about how he thinks Cable TV Champ Killer Brooks is ducking him, but when he gets his chance, he'll be the new tv champ. - "Warlord" Jonathon Boyd debuted along with Ripper Morgan. Morgan was carrying a large New Zealand flag as Boyd said that he and his partner Ripper are going to tear down the Southwest with their "style" of wrestling. They warn that no one is safe now that The New Zealand Militia is here. Matches on this Show: - Cable TV Champion Killer Brooks def. Mando Lopez with a reverse neckbreaker. During the bout, he kept shouting that he wants Santana to watch this beating. - Southwest Tag Champs The Fabulous Blondes def. Bob Yuma and Gary Young - Jonathon Boyd destroyed Sam Houston and finished him with a fist drop from the middle rope while Ripper Morgan waved the flag from the outside of the ring. - Tiger Conway Jr. def. Tully Blanchard with a schoolboy. Blackjack Mulligan had come to ringside and distracted Tully allowing Tiger to get the surprise win. After the bout, Tully and BJM battled on the floor till the show went off the air. AWA Newscenter w/ Gene Okerlund - Gene noted that Mil Mascaras returns to action here in Southwest next week. - Mark Van Halen had impressive debut on Thursday night, and looks to the future. - Exciting womens action is coming to Southwest this Tuesday night in Austin TX, and next week right here on cable tv! - He ran down the locations where the fans can see exciting Southwest Wrestling this week: Sun: Freeman Coliseum right here in San Antonio TX.....Fabulous Blondes vs Fulton & Romero !!! Fri: Corpus Christi TX.....Tito Santana & Jose Lothario in a showdown with Killer Brooks & Pat Rose!!! 1/2 Hour Sunday edition shown in local syndication: - An angry Spoiler throttled Sam Houston and finished him with his brain claw. - Ted & Jerry Oates def. Black Demon & Dennis Stamp - Al Perez cut a generic promo, but an angry Spoiler attacked him for no explained reason. - Jose Lothario def. Pat Rose with a Thesz press.
