Maple Leaf Wrestling presents
"SUPERSTARS OF WRESTLING"
All matches sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance - Vincent McMahon, President

Taped at the CHCH-TV (ch. 11) studios in Hamilton ON, Friday February 15th.
Syndicated broadcast on regional channels.

Ron Martinez & Milt Avruskin greet the viewers and preview the show.

RM:  "Fans, this should prove to be a MOST interesting episode of "Superstars of Wrestling".  We will see some vaunted NEW arrivals in Sonny Meyers, Kelly Kiniski, The Quebec Lumberjacks and Spike the Impaler".

MA:  "And in what can be described as a TRUE Bounty Hunter Match, Rocky Ed Boulder has been deputized by Trooper Johnny Wilhoit to bring the Alabama Chain Gang to JUSTICE!  I am interested to see how this untrained lawman will fare".

Norm has the opening contest.

Match 1 - The Quebec Lumberjacks (Mike & Jean Pierre) vs. Nick DeCarlo & "The Alaskan" Jay York
One fall 10 minutes

RM:  "Big Lumberjack Mike seems to be the leader here, of course he is a past NWA champion in this area".

MA:  "That was in a slightly different character, his stint up in the North Woods of Quebec seems to have rejuvenated him".

Jean Pierre is no slouch, either.  The noisy, brawling style is overwhelming the opposition.

MA:  "Even "The Alaskan", a rough-and-tumble type from way up North is being out-brawled!"

A STOLEN move!  York in the corner, Mike headlocks his OWN PARTNER!  Oh, holy SHEEP

...herders, it's a variation of the battering ram!

York collapses for a 3 count.

Norm offers the winners some comments.  Mike is the team's talker.

LJM:  "Ehhh, dat is de SAW MILL move!  Jean Pierre got 'ARD 'EAD, non?  I takes im to Sully's Gym, we tole "GO WAY, NEFFER COME BACK", we 'urt too many guys training dere!"

COMMERCIAL 1 - In stores now! "Action Trax, Volume 1" - LP or cassette ONLY from K-TEL

MA:  "Here is GREAT news for the fans in the Kitchener area!  Maple Leaf Wrestling has been able to bring the NWA WORLD CHAMPION, DAVID VON ERICH to Ontario for a World Title match.  The date is March 23rd and the place is the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium".

RM:  "David hails from the Lone Star state, but fans in this area can harken back to the days when both his father, FRITZ, and uncle, WALDO, created havoc back in the day!  Any word on his opponent, Milt?"

MA:  "NOT officially, but I would suggest that the NWA Canadian Heavyweight champ will get that opportunity:.

That would be Mike "Killer" Miller - now arriving with his manager/mouthpiece, Killer Kowalski.

KK:  "That makes sense, Avruskin, so - OBVIOUSLY - we might need to point that out to the powers that be here!  Watson & Layton are not noted for doing the obvious!"

RM:  "I am sure you will be hearing from the matchmakers, Killer.  Now, WHERE on earth did you find this SPIKE character?"

Kowalski asks Miller to return to the back to fetch the prize recruit.

KK:  "This is a force of deadly destruction, an eradicator, a MACHINE of MAYHEM!  Spike was in-bred with THE MOONDOGS, the most feared tribe of maniac wrestlers!  THEY expelled and disowned him, they were ALL scared of him, Rex, Spot, King ALL had their lumps from SPIKE!  They literally left him on the side of the road but I FOUND HIM!  If he knew how to spell it out, he could work as a HIRED ASSASSIN!"

Miller is chuckling in the ring at Kowalski's enthusiasm!

MA:  "Errr, thanks, Killer.  I think you new boy is waiting on you..."

Norm Kimber stays at arm's length to intrododuce the big brute.

Match 2 - Spike the Impaler w/ Killer Kowalski vs. Pete Sanchez
One fall 10 minutes

RM:  "Spike is carrying a HUGE bone with him, a souvenir of his Moondog days - OH!  Referee Marsh had asked for the bone and Spike SMASHES it over Sanchez!"

Miller reaches in to fetch the femur.  He & Kowalski watch with great pleasure as Sanchez is taken to the ole woodshed.  Poor Pete is getting kicked like a football, chewed on like beef jerky, punched like a...errr, punching bag...you get the drift.

RM:  "A bad dream come to life for Sanchez, I THINK he wants "Dangerous" Danny to do something but referee Marsh is more than leery..."

MA:  "Kowalski has taught Spike THE CLAW HOLD!"

Interesting variation, it is like a vise on Pete's head, Spike pulls him forward...CLUBBERING forearm across the back of the neck & it's lights out for Sanchez!

Spike repels Marsh's armraise, he wants to grunt & growl at the booing fans.  Kowalski takes the opportunity.

KK:  "THAT was the GOLDEN SPIKE, get used to it and PRAY no one gets DECAPITATED!"

As Killer begins maniacal laughter, Mike Miller leans in.

MM:  "Nova was NOT mean and scary enough!  NOW, anyone interested in my belt, y'all got somethin' ta think about!  The KILLERS got that much tougher, folks!"

COMMERCIAL 2 - Hinterland Who's Who, "The Northern Loon"

We return with some clips featuring the Alabama Chain Gang up to no good.

MA:  "This pair of escapees has been a menace to society, right under our very noses, Ron.  Once we knew what dangerous desperados they were from Trooper Johnny Wilhoit...AND Officer Judy, Maple Leaf Wrestling has kept a close watch on them!"

RM:  "I believe there was some trickery involved in ensuring they were here today on "Superstars of Wrestling"..."

We got a SUNshine Girl (been a lonnnng time!)...vivacious blonde in a mini-skirt is out, waving to the adoring fans (much wolf whistling as she enters the ring).

MA:  "A BIG THANKS are due, it was more that TRIXIE here was involved, rather than "trickery"!  In any case, the plan has worked!"

The CONVICTS follow the scent of Trixie's perfume into the squared circle!  Trixie waggles her finger and takes Norm's mic.

"Now, it's AFTER the match...you have the match FIRST - THEN you meet my friends!"

RM:  "Is this what they call "cruel & unusual punishment", Milt?  Those guys MIGHT have been in SOLITARY for some time...oh, here comes ROCKY ED BOULDER and THE TROOPER!"

The CONVICTS know they've been CONNED!  Trixie vanishes!

MA:  "Trooper in a pair of trunks, but has his hat on...oh, AND the holster!  Handcuffs, too!"

Chain Gang ready to bail...Trooper Johnny reaches for his piece!

TJW:  "FREEZE SUCKERS, the studio is SURROUNDED!"

Rocky Ed got a BADGE pinned on his tights!

REB:  "The JIG IS UP, your days of runnin' from the long arm of the law is OVER!"

Referee Cashman requests NO firearms or sharp, pointy badges make it into the ring.  However Wilhoit requests, that as a law-abiding citizen, Cashman hold the handcuffs.  Law & order Wayne puts a set of bracelets in each pocket.

Match 3 - The Alabama Chain Gang (Convict #1 and Convict #2) vs. Trooper Johnny Wilhoit & Rocky Ed Boulder
One fall 10 minutes

Cashman about to perform the patdowns...NOPE!  The big Convict pushes the ref aside & hits Rocky with a big boot!  The other Con pulls a FILE from his boot!  NOT a nail-file, the regulation saw-through-the-bars style.  The Trooper turns his back to check on Ed...tough-as-nails Wayne grabs the weapon on the backswing...it goes into pocket #3.  We have a bell, as Boulder is preocupied in a corner, Wayne declares the file guy & Trooper can carry on, they're legal.  In the corner, Rocky is doing well, slamming a striped skull into the buckles...as they are NOT legal, Cashman gives the old "suit youselves" as the crowd chants a count.

RM:  "Boulder smashes the head TEN times!"

Meanwhile, the other felon fall down as Johnny does a leg-sweep.  He is atop his quarry, cross-face & hammerlock in place.  Rocky is now in his team's assigned  corner - rather than head to his, the extra Chain Ganger helps his cell-mate by giving the lawman's ribs a swift kick,  Ed is in, reprises the bongoing in the buckles.

Trooper Johnny is up & has a rasslin' move in mind!  He hits a swinging neckbreaker!  As fine a one as you'd ever see from, say, George Steele...He knows ANOTHER move!  A DDT that would have done....errr, Brad Batten proud!  A FABULOUS leghook, the dilettante gets it done!

MA:  "Their days of being unlawfully at large are, indeed, over!  Oh, wait, Johnny wants some POSITIVE I.D.!  He's unmasked the one he pinned ....IT'S JERRY BROWN!  What the heck, I thought he left ages ago, he LOST a loser-leaves-town match!"

RM:  "The other one has broken free! Boulder over the ropes in hot pursuit,,, ANOTHER ESCAPE...HANG ON, we might get ANOTHER CRIME SPREE!"

The Convict tries the tunnel exit but runs right into Commissioner "Whipper" Billy Watson and NWA Representative Lord Athol Layton!  He knows the jig is truly up and SURRENDERS!  The crowd roars as Wilhoit has Brown cuffed, he and Boulder out to congratulate the heroism of the old duffers.

Milt quips, "Book 'em, Dann-o!"

COMMERCIAL 3 - Coming soon to theaters, "THE GREY FOX", a TRUE story of a legendary Canadian outlaw!

MA:  "Fans, not only do we LOSE those two trouble-makers, next week on "Superstars of Wrestling", LADIES action returns!  Our champ, Joyce Grable, is still involved with her feud against the Fabulous Moolah, but we'll see a challenger from OVERSEAS in action!"

VTR

The Kiniskis and Moose Morowski.

GK:  "My fellow Canadians, in Niagara Falls last week, Killer Kowalski pulled a surprise on us, a big, fat wild man calling himself SPIKE THE IMPALER!  A brute that is as DIRTY as Kowalski ever was himself!  Kelly got a bit dinged-up, but NO, he WILL NOT miss his date with SIKI on TV this week.  MILLER, you lie down with these DOGS, you are going to get FLEAS!  David Von Erich is coming here and he deserves better than to face a FLEA INFESTED SON OF A BI..."

Moose got the timing down!

MM:  "...BIG SPIKE!  What you did has my attention!  Be looking for THE MOOSE ON THE LOOSE and he's coming for YOU!"

END VTR

And now we switch LIVE to the interview area, Milt at the podium with JOHNNY POWERS.

MA:  "Johnny, GREAT win for you in Niagara Falls over SHEIK ALI!"

JP:  "I couldn't let my old friend Ron Martinez be disappointed!  Yes, I pinned Ali, even with the HOLY MAN, Ayatollah Siki playing dirty!"

MA:  "You've challenged the Arabian faction, Johnny, but NOW..."

JP:  "Now, we see Chris Markoff feeling on top of the world with a NEW partner!  Markoff OR Khrushcheve, I can't really decide...YOU figure it out, I'm challenging EITHER ONE on TV next week!"

Norm runs down the upcoming LIVE events...THIS Saturday in London, Sunday in Oakville, Tuesday the 26th in Welland, Thursday the 28th in Waterloo, Friday March 1st in Aylmer and NEXT Saturday we return to Windsor!

And now we have the introductions about ready for the TV title bout!  OH NO!  The crowd GROANS as Kelly Kiniski is out with heavily-taped ribs!

COMMERCIAL 4

We return & young Kiniski is in the ring, no sign of Pops or the Moose.  Beautiful Bruce brings out the champ, NO Sheik Ali.  Bruce & The Ayatolloh find Kelly's condition worth mocking.

Time enough for a clip from Niagara Falls - Gene & Kelly Kiniski vs. Mike Miller & Spike the Impaler.  The new guy lays a folding chair into Kelly's ribs.

MA:  "As Johnny Powers had beaten the ringleader Sheik Ali in Niagara Falls, perhaps Ali is licking his wounds..."

Ayatollah Siki bullies Norm into giving up the mic.

AS:  "Naw, this kid ain't in NO condition ta get beat up some more!  Sumpin as BAD as that looks, needs a doctor's note!"

Kiniski indicates he is ready to go.  Bruce adds his two cents.

BB:  "Looks like the Polish Militia wants a SUICIDE mission!  We'll oblige, DON'T forget, Normie-poo, this man DARED to attack me, as far as the Arabian Knights are concerned, he DESERVES what he gets, I'm GLAD Kowalski saved a little piece for us!"

Punctuated with a jab of a finger in Kelly's face!  Kiniski falls for the scheme!  Siki swings the TV belt!  The crowd ROARS as Kelly ducked...belt and Brucie fly out of the ring.

Norm gets the intro done from the floor!

Match 4 - Ayatollah Siki © w/ Beautiful Bruce vs. Kelly Kiniski
One fall 10 minutes
MAPLE LEAF CANADIAN TV TITLE MATCH

RM:  "Kelly was on his toes!  Now he's all over the CHAMP, who is still in his robes...Terry Yorkston gets the bell!"

Siki is rallying despite being hampered by the robes, they are going toe-to-toe...face-rake by Siki.  He whips KK, sets up a flying forearm...sidestepped!  The burnoose sails through the ropes as Siki executes a face plant, Kelly helps by ripping the robe off, whoops...pretty roughly!

MA:  "Oh, that robe can go in the rag bag!  Kelly has one arm hooked, might be trying a Full-Nelson..."

His jaw is jacked, Siki tackles him to the mat, he's straddling the chest, punching away.

RM:  "Siki is out of control, Milt, he's clawing at the bandaged ribs...oh, he's got the tape loose and wraps some around Kelly's throat!"

Brucie is all for it!  HE still has the TV belt and asks the Ayatollah if he can use it.  Yorkston is a busy, busy man.  He backs The Ayatollah to a neutral corner and asks for a backup ref to remove Brucie's weapon.  That requires a long argument from the manager.

RM:  "Siki did not stay long in his corner, he's after Kelly again, who is worse for wear..."

They hook up and Kelly is dropped by a leg-sweep and is getting choked.  NOW a pin attempt but Yorkston is making sure senior referee Wayne Cashman leaves with the belt.  Now Bruce is VERY helpful, telling the ref there is a pin attempt in the ring!  Yorkston down on the mat, counts TWO before KK rolls a shoulder...briefly.  The pin continues...with Siki's feet up on the ropes!

RM:  "OH NO, the referee was in a hurry and did not have the best position!  The fans are devestated to see those two celebrating, even without the belt!"

COMMERCIAL 5

We return for the GOLDEN LADDER segment, Trixie is back out chatting with the announcers.

Trixie:  "Being a SUNshine Girl was just a bonus!  Trooper Wilhoit set that up to lure THE CONVICTS & make the pinch!  You see, I'm actually an officer in the VICE division of the Toronto Police, working undercover!"

Milt admires her eye-catching sleeveless blouse.

MA:  "So THOSE are the long arms of the law!  Well, I always say, the policeman is your friend!  Let's make the draw!"

Trixie is pleased by her catch, "IT'S THE DEPUTY!  EDDIE Boulder!"

EDDIE?  THAT sounds a bit familiar...do you think?

Milt adjusts the cards on the ladder, LEVEL 4!  AYATOLLAH SIKI vs. ROCKY ED BOULDER!

MA:  "Thanks, Trixie, for taking us undercovers into the world of law enforcement!  Next week, right here on "Superstars of Wrestling" we'll have QUITE a TV title match!"

We cut to the ring, Sonny Meyers and Don Arakawa ARE in their corners but Norm is sidetracked!  Into the ring stomp THE SOVIETS!  Markoff and Khrushchev are in a worse mood than usual.

CM:  "Johnny Powers is being a PEST!  Orders from KREMLIN is terminate Polish Militia FIRST!  Looks like son of Kiniski is a goner soon!  We have plans for Polish trouble-makers!  We want SIX MAN match!  And Powers, I will face you NEXT WEEK, show my comrade how Canadians are all BIG TALKERS!"

They depart & Kimber hustles up the intro's.

Match 5 - Don Arakawa vs. Sonny Meyers
Falls to TV time limit

MA:  "We are a BIT short on time, fans, but what a great show we'll have for you next week!  Markoff versus Powers, Rocky Ed Boulder gets his first GOLDEN LADDER shot against the Ayatollah, women's action, and we are happy to report Randy Scott is ready to return as well!"

RM:  "Sonny Meyers knows there is not much time, he's all over Arakawa!"

Right from the bell, Arakawa was back-pedalling from the furious "Mad Man".  Referee Cashman is assigned and he too, is working up a sweat trying to keep Meyers under control...

RM:  "A BIG PILE-DRIVER by Sonny Meyers!  A move SO dangerous, it is outlawed in some parts of yjr world to this day!"

Meyers leaves Don in a heap to concentrate on letting the fans know he is one toughie cookie.  An elbowdrop and lackadaisical, smug pin.

MA:  "And some promotions outlaw THAT!  He threw his opponent OVER the top rope!  And thinks he's done for the day, demanding the armraise and mic.  Cashman's explanation about the TV time limit falling on deaf ears...Meyers is out to grab the timekeeper's mic!"

SM:  "WHAT 30 second break?  I nearly KILLED the guy, he's not coming back!  And for you OLD TIMERS, I'm NOT that OTHER Sonny Meyers from St. Joe a million years ago, HE stole MY name!  That's RIGHT!  And DENNY BROWN, sooner or later, I'll give YOU the SAME as Teriyaki got!  QUIT ringing the flipping BELL!"

RM:  "Errr, I think Cashman just signalled the SECOND fall is a double-countout...We ARE out of time, fans!  AND Mr. Meyers DOES get the decision, I believe...see you next week!"

Close with MAD MAN MEYERS carrying on his ranting.

Mad Man Myers is an interesting character who should really kick the Jr. Heavyweight division up a notch.
Jos LeDuc tells me that your so called lumberjacks were the washer women in lumberjack camp.

Kowalski is amassing the best faction that nobody knows. I love the Spike the Impaler moniker. Great to see a Johnny Powers appearance. Hope that Kelly rallies. I predict that Siki's roll stops at Boulder next week.

Great show.
