Southwest Championship Wrestling
Broadcast Saturday Feb. 23, 1983 on the USA Network
Taped Wednesday Feb. 20, 1983
at The Junction in San Antonio TX
Sanctioned by the AWA

Interviews on this Show:

- "Warlord" Jonathon Boyd w/ Ripper Morgan talked, or should I say, shouted about how the United States of America are weak and ripe for a fall.  The fall will come at the hands of The New Zealand Militia.  The sounds of the war drums can already be heard in the distance, and it's just a matter of time before he and his militia dominate wrestling!

- Blackjack Mulligan talked about how Tully Blanchard is running like a scalded dog, but ole Blackjack is going to catch him and give him a whoopin' he's had coming for a long time.  WHen he catches him, he's going to beat him over and over and over again.

- Mark Van Halen joined Stack for an interview, but he pretty much ignored Stack and just talked about how good looking he was, and how in shape he is.  He talked about how nobody can escape his full nelson lock, and is going to give somebody a chance to do just that here today.

- Tully Blanchard talked about how Blackjack needs to be put out of his misery, and he is the one who is going to do it.  He don't care if he has to fight Blackjack everyday, if thats what it takes, thats what he's going to do.

- Bobby Fulton of the Fantastics came out to talk about the injury to his partner Tommy Rogers, and was interrupted by Cable TV Champion Killer Brooks.  Brooks came up making crying noises and making fun of Fulton.  Fulton took exception and got in Brooks' face.  They got into a shoving match and Fulton went to the ring and dared Brooks to come fight him.  Brooks obliged.

- Matchmaker Joe Blanchard came out and talked about the feud between Tully and Blackjack.  He said it has become to violent to continue, so he is telling them both right now that he will only sanction one more match between the two of them.  He said that they will battle for the last time on Sunday night March 10 at the HemisFair Arena here in San Antonio.  He said that he wants them both out here next week, and he wants them each to pick whatever stipulation they want for the match, and that's the match they'll have that night.

Matches on this Show:

- Southwest Champion Manny Fernandez def. Don Serrano

- Mil Mascaras & El Sicodelico def. The Exterminators in a battle of masked tag teams

- Sherri Martel pinned Susan Green

- Preston Steele accepted Mark Van Halen's full nelson challenge.  Van Halen locked it in and swung Steele around until he was unconcious from the pain.

- Cable TV Champ Killer Brooks and Bobby Fulton battled to a time limit draw.  Fulton put up a heck of a fight, but Brooks took over in the end.  He was looking to finish as time was running out, but Tito Santana came to ringside to cheer on Fulton and it distracted Brooks till the time ran out.  Brooks was furious but he quickly bailed when Tito came into the ring.

AWA Newscenter w/ Gene Okerlund:

- Okerlund talked about how Mascaras and Sicodelico are brothers, and how they team up this coming Friday night to challenge The Fabulous Blondes for the Southwest Tag Team Titles in Corpus Christi TX.

Half Hour Sunday edition shown in local syndication:

- Ripper Morgan w/ Jonathon Boyd at ringside def. Mando Lopez by submission with a bear hug

- The Fabulous Blondes ran down Mascaras and Sicodelico defore their title match Friday night.

- The Fabulous Blondes def. Jim White and Mike Stallings

- Bobby Fulton was joined by Tommy Rogers in street clothes where Tommy said he'll be back next week and looks forward to getting payback on The Blondes.

- Tito Santana def. Killer Karl Krupp by DQ when Killer Brooks interfered.  Tito fought him off and stood tall at the end of the battle.

great show.
Mark Van Halen is a really strong heel. His debut promo is on youtube.
I'm looking forward to Krupp, Brooks and hopefully Rose eliminating Fulton, Rogers and Tito one by one.
It will be interesting to watch the careers of the Fabulous Blondes. They were a great team IRL but didn't last long with Timbs going with DW and Embry going with Dan Greer (Fargo) in 2 different versions of the FB's.

Kinda pulling for Sico and Mascaras. Tully and BJ one last time should be awesome. The tag scene could get real heavy if The NZ Militia gets a foothold. Great match between Fulton and Brooks. Halen looks like he is ready for the big time.

Great show.

Good TV.  Fulton steps up big.  A lot of shine was given to the stories here.  I also like the lucha tag team here.
