Prior to the Opening Match, ring announcer Tony Schiavone goes over the rules for tonight’s tournament to crown a new South Dakota State Heavyweight Champion. There will be a draw to determine the order and participants in each matchup. Once the semifinals have finished, we will go straight into the championship match. This is designed to reward wrestlers who can finish off their opponents quickly, or have the toughness to compete in back to back matches.
Tony brings out “All-American” Jim Wilson to assist in the draw. As he is barred from competing in the tournament due to the presence of Black Angus Campbell, he has generously agreed to help with determining the matchups. Jim’s presence brings out Percival A Friend and Black Angus, who say they are there to counter Wilson’s blatant bias and cheating ways. It is all Wilson can do to keep from decking them both.
The draw gives the following matchups:
Quarterfinal One- Black Angus Campbell draws Strong Kobayashi
Quarterfinal Two- Buddy Wolfe faces newcomer Tony Parisi
Quarterfinal Three- European Cruiserweight Champion Johnny Saint faces Angelo Mosca Jr.
Quarterfinal Four- Apache Bull Ramos pairs off against the Mighty Inoue
This draw seems to favor Black Angus, and in truth there seemed to be points at the start of the draw where Percival was a little more involved than others…
Match One- Black Angus Campbell over Strong Kobayashi
Match Two- Tony Parisi over Buddy Wolfe- The debuting Parisi showed why has been such a popular and successful tag team wrestler back east, turning aside the challenge of Wolfe.
Match Three- Angelo Mosca over Johnny Saint. Angelo Mosca advances in the tournament, but not in a way he would have liked. The match was a scientific affair, with Saint appearing heading for a narrow victory, when Mick McManus and “Handsome” Jimmy Del Ray appear at ringside. While McManus draws the attention of Mosca and the Ref, Del Ray trips up Saint, enabling Mosca to get the pinfall victory.
Match Four- Apache Bull Ramos over The mighty Inoue in another of Ramos’ patented brawls.

Semifinals
Match Five- Black Angus Campbell over Tony Parisi when Percival interferes.
Match Six- Angelo Mosca over Bull Ramos by DQ. Ramos continues his reign of terror here in South Dakota, putting a hurt on the young rookie. He bloodies Mosca, and continues to beat on him when he is trapped in the corner, despite the referee’s instructions to give a clean break. The referee has no option but to disqualify Ramos. Despite the fact that he is eliminated from the tournament, The Bull doesn’t seem at all upset by the results.
Finals
Match Seven- Black Angus over Angelo Mosca. Despite advancing in the semis, Mosca is in no condition to face Black Angus. He gamely puts up a fight, but Campbell is only in trouble once, and his manager Percival quickly gets him back on track. The match becomes a mugging before Black Angus finally pins Mosca to become the new South Dakota Heavyweight Champion. Following the match, Angus and Friend celebrate with the title belt, and then begin to put the boots to their downed opponent. This brings both Jim Wilson and Tony Parisi racing from the back to chase them off, getting in a few good licks in the process!
Wilson gets on the house mic and says that while he can’t help Mosca get revenge on Campbell, he CAN give Bull Ramos some payback for his actions. He wants him in the ring next week!
Parisi takes the mic and says that he is under no restrictions, so if Mosca isn’t recovered in time to be Campbell’s 1st title opponent next week, Parisi will be more than happy to give Campbell everything he can ask for!
Great Salt Lake Wrestling

The opening match saw Steve Gatorwolf defeat Villano II.
“The Mormon Giant” Don Leo Jonathan is introduced to the crowd. He announces that he has been named the president of Great Salt Lake Wrestling, and they are in negotiations to bring Utah into the National Wrestling Alliance. The NWA is considered the Major League of Professional Wrestling throughout North America, and Great Salt Lake Wrestling is looking forward to being approved for membership.
In the second match masked wrestlers Villano III and Rayo de Jalisco battled to a 30 minute draw.
The team of Eddie Sullivan and Rip Tyler used some questionable tactics to hand The Samoan Connection their first loss here in Great Salt Lake Wrestling.
The debuting Cien Caras fell to the still undefeated Dr Wagner.
Prior to the Main Event, Don Leo Jonathan says that his first act as president is a sad one. He announces that in order to avoid the possibility that any actions in the Main Event will cast a shadow over their quest to join the NWA, the final match will be a non-sanctioned, “lights out” no-holds-barred contest. (While Jonathan cast this as bad news, it actually drew a huge cheer from those in attendance, who didn’t want any technicalities to get in the way of a good fight.)
Main Event- “The Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre”
Russ Francis (NFL All Pro Tight End) and Billy Francis vs “Dynamite” Jack Evans and “Bomber” Ray Evans
This match promised to be a brawl, and it didn’t disappoint. The Evans brothers used their nasty temperament and experience to take control of the match early on, but as the fight progressed and spread all around the arena, the size and strength advantage of the Billy and Russ started to come into play. The match continued for the better part of an hour, and in the end the toughness of the Francis brothers shows, as a bloody Billy managed to pin a battered Dynamite Jack in the center of the ring.
