Championship Wrestling from California presents Wrestling at the Olympic Taped 1/27/83 Olympic Auditorium Los Angeles, CA Syndicated across California & Nevada Announcers: Jeff Walton with Pat Patterson Walton welcomed fans to the show. A clip of last week's interactions between the Grand Wizard, King Konga and Bob Backlund was shown. Backlund and Konga will face off in this week's main event. The "Intelligent, Sensational" Destroyer came out for an interview. "As you know, I have been looking high and low for a man to carry on my legacy," he said. "I have found the perfect candidate! "He is a graduate of of the University of Oklahoma, where he lettered all four years as a heavyweight in wrestling. He anchored the offensive line on a football team that went to four bowl games. He moved on to a career in professional wrestling, where he was rookie of the year in the AWA. When I scouted him, he couldn't wait to leave that backwater to come learn from a true master under the bright lights of the big city. I present to you Dr. Death, Steve Williams!" The "Intelligent, Sensational" Destroyer & "Dr. Death" Steve Williams defeated Dos Caras & Mike Jackson in 6 minutes when Williams pinned Caras with the stampede powerslam after slamming him against all for corners. COMMERCIAL BREAK "Exotic" Adrian Street shocked "Crusher" Jerry Blackwell for the United States Title in 9 minutes. Blackwell had the match well in hand when Street pulled out an obvious foreign object. The referee saw it and took it away. Street then pulled another object out while the ref was distracted, and jabbed it into Blackwell's eyes. He grabbed a school boy for the pin. Patterson went into the ring to interview Street. "Look at that bloke crying in the ring," Street said. "Fit wins, and fat fails. Fatwell didn't have it in him to beat a man with my intelligence, guile and cunning. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go wash his sweat off my beautiful body before I go spend a night on the town in Beverly Hills." "Just one second before you go banana, Street," Patterson said. "Don't celebrate too fast. I've got a rematch clause that says I've got a U.S. title shot, and since my little issue with Buck Robley is settled, I think I might cash it in." Street ran off in a huff. COMMERCIAL BREAK Bugsy McGraw & "Pistol" Pez Whatley defeated "Crazy" Luke Graham & Gypsy Joe by disqualification in 4 minutes when the Destroyer and Williams came down and pulled Whatler off the apron and began beating him. McGraw tried to help, but was waylaid by Graham and Joe. Both McGraw and Whatley were left laying. A music video promoting the upcoming debut of Koko Ware was shown, to the tune of "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. COMMERCIAL BREAK A music video promoting the upcoming debut of Black Bart was shown, to the tune of "Bad Company" by Bad Company. King Konga (with the Grand Wizard) defeated Bob Backlund in 8 minutes. Backlund's offense had little effect as Konga tossed him like a rag doll. Konga could have gone for the pin after hitting a diving headbutt from the top rope, but decided to hand out more punishment. He pressed Backlund over the top rope to the floor, and again onto the guardrail. Only then, after throwing him back in and hitting another diving headbutt, did he go for the pink. Backlund was stretchered out.
