Mid-South Wrestling presents a one night tournament for the Louisiana State Championship. This event is taking place in the Municipal Auditorium on 3/1/1983. Mid-South Wrestling is sanctioned by the AWA, the major league of professional wrestling. The referees for this evening’s event are Alfred Nealy, Mac Murray and Frankie Caine Your ring announcer for evening’s event is Reiser Bowden Reiser Bowden announces that the first four matches are opening round matches and all have a fifteen minute time limit. Tom Pritchard with Sunshine defeated Norman Frederick Charles the Third after a second rope dropkick at the 9 minute mark. Rock Riddle and Ken Mantell wrestle to a fifteen minute draw, which allows Tom Pritchard to go directly to the finals. Shane Douglas defeated John Tatum after Douglas pinned Tatum after a Douglas’ belly to belly suplex at the 8 minute mark. Mr. Wrestling Tim Woods pinned Kendo Nagasaki (UK) after a belly to back suplex at the 14:30 mark. Kamala with Mr. Uganda crushed Preston Steele with a body splash at the 6 minute mark. In the semifinal match of the Louisiana Heavyweight Title Tournament, which has a thirty minute time limit. Mr. Wrestling Tim Woods pinned Shane Douglas after Woods reverses the belly to belly suplex into an Oklahoma roll for the win at the 17 minute mark. Dick Murdock, Hector and Mando Guerrero lose to Gary Hart’s team of The Great Kabuki, The Spoiler and Mark Lewin. Hart trips up Mando, as Kabuki delivers a huge savate kick and the Spolier and Lewin hold off Captain Redneck and Hector at the twenty seven minute mark. The North American Champion The Junkyard Dog pinned Toru Tanaka after a big thump at the 14 minute mark. The finals of the Louisiana Title Tournament comes down to Tom Pritchard with Sunshine against Mr. Wrestling Tim Woods. Both men shake hands in the ring and put on a technical classic after the announcement of No time limit. Woods digs deep and wins his third match of the night, making Pritchard submit to the figure four leg lock at the 24 minute mark. Tom fought in the lock for almost two minutes, almost had it reversed twice, but had to finally submit. Mr. Wrestling is your Louisiana State Champion. Tom limped over after the match and raised his hand as the crowd in New Orleans cheer both men.
