NWA Badlands- 2/21/1983
Mar 10th, 2013, 10:02pm

Black Hills Championship Wrestling
Thursday, February 21st, 7pm
Sioux Falls Armory, Sioux Falls SD
Referees: Bart Batton, Mike Chioda
Ring Announcer Tony Schiavone
Attendance- 645

In the opening contest Buddy Wolfe defeats Strong Kobayashi.

The second match sees Hans Schroeder overcoming the challenge of the Mighty Inoue.

European Cruiserweight Champion Johnny Saint came down to the ring and challenged Jimmy Del Ray AND Mick McManus to a non-title handicap match “since he knew he was going to have to be facing them both anyway”.  McManus and Del Ray were shocked, but quickly agreed.  While Saint was able to control most of the match, it is a tough task for one man to beat two, especially when the two have no qualms about bending the rules until they break.  In the end, a blind tag while Saint was tied up with McManus enables Jimmy Del Ray to execute a sunset flip on the unsuspecting Champion to get the 3 count.

Angelo Mosca comes out with his arm in a sling and his head bandaged.  He is with Tony Parisi and Jim Wilson.  Mosca says that the doctors haven’t cleared him to wrestle this week, but he is going to be back and in top form soon.  While he wishes he could get the first title shot at Black Angus Campbell, he knows that his new friend Tony Parisi is a great choice to give some respectability back to the South Dakota Heavyweight title.  Parisi says that Campbell and his little Friend may have the advantage at the moment, but they are going to have the shortest reign on top ever!  Then Jim Wilson calls out Bull Ramos, saying that “everybody knows” he was paid off to hurt Mosca before the title match last week, and if The Bull wants to have a fight, the All American is just itching to lay a beating on him.

Intermission

The All American Jim Wilson versus Apache Bull Ramos goes to a double count out when their wild brawl spills out into the crowd.  The sounding of the ring bell didn’t stop the action, and the two fought for a good 5 more minutes before security could separate them.

South Dakota Heavyweight Championship Match
Black Angus Campbell © (with Percival A Friend) vs Tony Parisi
Campbell retains his title by pinfall over Parisi.  Parisi looks like he may overcome Black Angus, only to be tripped up at the 25 minute mark by Friend’s outside interference.    After the match, Parisi stands in the ring and yells after the Champion “This Isn’t Over!”

Great Salt Lake Wrestling
Thursday, February 21st, 6pm
East High School, Salt Lake City, UT
Referee: Rick Davis
Attendance- 878

Opening match Villano III defeats Cein Caras

“The Mormon Giant” Don Leo Jonathan introduces tonight’s card, saying that since he has been involved with Great Salt Lake wrestling, people have been coming up to him saying that they want more of the great Mexican superstars to come to Utah.  Tonight they have one of the greatest of all time, the Mighty BLUE DEMON!  He came to promotion saying that he had heard about Dr. Wagner’s winning streak and that he was just the man to break it.

Second match Rayo de Jalisco defeated Villano I with a diving headbutt.

In his singles debut in Great Salt Lake Wrestling, Farmer Boy Ipo (w. Leroy Brown) defeated Al Tomko

“Bomber” Ray Evans ( w. “Dynamite” Jack Evans) faced  Steve Gatorwolf.        “Dynamite” Jack came out to the ring wearing a cast, due to an injury that he claimed occurred during the match with the Francis Brothers last week.   Ray defeated Gatorwolf after Jack hit Gatorwolf with his cast while the refs back was turned.

Intermission

The Francis Brothers (Russ and Billy) defeated the team of Eddie Sullivan and Rip Tyler, with their power advantage overcoming Sullivan and Tyler’s experience.  Following the match, Russ Francis called out the Evans Brothers, saying that once “Dynamite” Jack gets over his hangnail, the Francis Boys will be waiting for them.

Main Event
Blue Demon faced Dr Wagner in a 2 out of 3 falls match.
Dr Wagner wins the first fall following the Gory Special
Blue Demon wins the second fall after making Dr Wagner submit to the octopus hold.
Dr Wagner is outraged after losing the fall, and he gestures to the back.  In response, three men come to ringside.  One man is dressed in a suit, wearing a goatee, while the other two are dressed all in white with white masks.    Wagner gets back in the ring, while Blue Demon watches these newcomers warily.   The match continues, with a lot of back and forth action, until the man in the suit sees an opportunity and pushes Blue Demon off the turnbuckle and into the ring.  This enables Wagner to hit the Gory Special, and get the pin, and the win.

As soon as the referee raises Dr Wagner’s arm in victory, the newcomers rush the ring and attack the Blue Demon.  The beat on him viciously until the cavalry arrives, in the form of Rayo de Jalisco and Cien Caras, accompanied by security.

Who are these newcomers, and what is their connection to Dr Wagner?!?

I, too, am intrigued with the arrival of the men in the white masks. Love the continuing deal with The Francis/Evans brothers. Dr. Wagner and Blue Demon would have had the fans eating out of their hands. Campbell continues to roll. Liked the Wilson vs. Ramos match. Surprised that Saint made that kind of challenge. Jimmy sure took advantage of it, though.

Great stuff.
