Championship Wrestling Association
Sanctioned under the auspices of the American Wrestling Association
AWA President:  Verne Gagne
CWA representative to the AWA:  Jerry Jarrett
LIVE from the WMC TV Ch. 5 Studio 11:00am – 12:30pm
Announcers:  Lance Russell & Dave Brown
Referees:  Jerry Calhoun, Paul Morton, Frank Morrell, & Tommy Gilbert

LANCE RUSSELL & DAVE BROWN

Bullet Points:

*Mid-America Champion, Tommy Rich, sustained a neck injury from the Double Cross Gang and is now forced to wear a neckbrace.  Whether or not he will be able to remain Mid-America Champion is unknown.
*Lance welcomes Championship Wrestling from Florida to the AWA.  He hopes to work with his old friend, Gordon Solie, real soon.
*Jerry Jarrett is working hard to secure dates on AWA World Champion, Jerry Lawler.  His schedule is so hectic he hasn’t been able to come “home” in quite some time.
*Jarrett has also tried to discover the identity of the person issuing the bounties, but all he has discovered is even more bounty posters.

NATURE BOY RIC FLAIR

Bullet Points:

*Is glad CWF is in the AWA.  Maybe Eddie Graham can fly some competition for him up to Memphis.
*Has been told that CWF’s Southern Champion, Greg Valentine, has been running his mouth about the Nature Boy.
*He has fought with Valentine and against Valentine and he, and most importantly Greg, knows that Valentine isn’t in his league.
*Flair may have to travel South to teach his old “friend” a few lessons.
*Flair will make short work of Stan Lane Monday Night.

THE DOUBLE CROSS GANG

Bullet Points:

*$15,000 richer for hurting Tommy Rich.
*Funks want a shot at the Zambuie Express and the Southern Titles Monday Night.
*Hansen comments that if Tommy Rich were any kind of a man, he would shake of that little injury and face him in the ring today for the Mid-America Title.
*Rich comes out in a neckbrace and accepts the challenge, against the advice of CWA officials and his friends.

THE FABULOUS ONES

Bullet Points:

*Frustrated that the Zambuie Express keeps getting counted out in their matches.
*Taking a break from the Express this week and each will seek singles gold.
*Steve Keirn will face Randy Savage for the International Title.
*Stan Lane will face Ric Flair for the Southern Title Monday night.

THE FIRST FAMILY

Bullet Points:

*Hart states that in a couple of weeks, the newest member of the First Family will be here.
*Savage dismisses Keirn as a tag team wrestler and says he won’t even break a sweat against ½ of the Fabs.
*Bundy shouts that he wants some of the bounty money that is floating around.  Maybe he will start with Mantell on Monday.

DUTCH MANTELL, AUSTIN IDOL, JIMMY VALIANT, & BILL DUNDEE

Bullet Points:

*Mantell contends that no one will collect a bounty on his head, especially Bundy.
*Idol is concerned that all of their guys are being put out with bounties.  He suggests that they start collecting on some bounties as well.
*Valiant wishes Dream Machine and Eddie Gilbert well and hope they have a speedy recovery.
*Dundee is worried that Rich is making a big mistake facing Hansen today for the Mid-America Title.  He says he will be watching the match very closely.

Televised matches:

*The Zambuie Express w/Jim Holliday destroy Rusty Brokks & Bill Howard in a non-Title match.
*Dutch Mantell def. Bill White with a piledriver.
*Frank Monte def. Kentucky Wildcat #2 with a kneedrop.
*Phil Hickerson def. Gene Ligon with a butterfly suplex
*Mid-America Title Match – Stan Hansen def. Tommy Rich© for the Title when Bill Dundee throws in the towel.  Rich fought valiantly, but Hansen concentrated his attack on the injured neck.  Dundee throws in the towel before Hansen can deliver the lariat, thus saving Rich from permanent injury.

Rich was crazy to face Stan Hansen at less than 100%, and it cost him his title.  Oh well, I am sure he will be able to find some sweet young thing to help ease the pain.

The Funks are the champs as well now.  The Double Cross Gang has really made a mark in Memphis is short time. I love it, all three are men that can carry the load in a match or a territory.

I am dying of curiosity to find out who is the man behind the bounties.   The way things are going, he is going to be out a lot of $$$ before this is all over.

Boy, the Gang sure can boast of being a gold standard, now. Interesting deal with Dundee throwing in the towel for Rich. The Express got a little of their own tactics thrown at them by the Funks. Chlling promo by Flair on Valentine. The bounty angle continues to roll.

Congrats to the new belt holders!  Good stuff.  Following up on the format, I DO like the convenience where the TV and live show comes together at once.  We all got our own schedules for reading and writing, if this is handy for you, go with it.

Hart adding guys, will CWA get heel heavy (not a big deal) or are some pink slips coming.  Good seeing the references "outside" the territory to FLA and AWA.
