“Hollywood Blondes” (John Tatum & Rock Riddle) defeat Steve Lombardi & Ted Petty after Riddle drops Lombardi with a piledriver

Rock Riddle & John Tatum joins Dave McLane. Riddle lets McLane know that the Hollywood Blondes are in the WWA and they want those tag team titles. Spike Huber and Steve Regal may be pretty boys but they are not as pretty as a Hollywood Blonde. McLane informs Riddle that there are a list of teams ahead of the Blondes in order to get that title shot. Riddle replies that not one of them are even close to looking as good, or wrestling as good as the Hollywood Blondes and none of them are superstars like the Hollywood Blondes are. The opportunity needs to come their way but the Blondes know that if opportunity does not knock, then they will knock for it.

Yatsu & Choshu w/ Billy Spears defeat Bobby Bold Eagle & Billy Two Rivers after Choshu catches Bold Eagle with the lariat

Billy Spears is with his Japanese team. He tells McLane that the AWA world tag team champions are coming in two weeks time but they are without opponents. Adonis and Ventura may be big, may be strong but they are not used to a team like Yatsu & Choshu. Yeah, they have defended the tag team belts all over the world against some good teams but not as tough or as mean as his Japanese contingent. So if the AWA powers that be want to stop protecting their world champions, then they will sign the match in two weeks.

Greg Gagne defeats Ben Alexander after wrapping the Gagne Sleeper on Alexander

David McLane thanks Gagne for coming out for the interview. Gagne thanks him as well saying it is his pleasure to be here in the WWA.  He has done everything he could do in Heartland and now it is time for him to branch out and make his way to other places, starting with the World Wrestling Association. He has heard a great deal about the amazing wrestlers here and when he was the AWA world tag team champion, he has been against a few but now it is different. He is without his partner who is very successful back in Heartland. Now it is just him and he has one goal in mind, that goal being AWA world singles gold. He has been the AWA world tag team champion on 3 occasions and now it is time for him to look ahead at the AWA world singles rankings. McLane lets Gagne know that the AWA world heavyweight champion Jerry “The King” Lawler is going to be defending the title on this program in just a little while, is he Gagne’s target?  Gagne replies that he is no stranger to Lawler, having both lost and regained the AWA world tag team titles from him just last year. Gagne would gladly take a title match against Lawler as long as he would be willing to put the title up.  McLane thanks Gagne again as we head to a commercial.

AWA World heavyweight championship: Jerry “The King” Lawler (champion) defeats King Tonga after hitting the second rope elbow drop

Lawler is with David McLane after his match. McLane asks him what is next, after he has defeated Tonga. Lawler lets him know that whoever the AWA puts in front of him is next. He is a fighting champion and will put the title on the line against whoever the AWA deems the number one contender. McLane brings up Greg Gagne and his words he just said. Lawler replies that he knows the Gagne’s very well and especially Greg after their run ins over the AWA world tag team belts. But if the WWA and the AWA deem Gagne the number one contender, then that match will happen. As he said, he is a fighting champion. He does not care if it is Greg Gagne, Dick The Bruiser, Spike Huber, Steve Regal, Yatsu or Choshu, anyone. All it takes is the contract being signed and Lawler will be here to defend. Johnny V comes out and interrupts. He tells Lawler that he is not the only former world champion in the WWA. If Lawler is so tough, then next week he will put that world title up for grabs against Johnny V’s brother, “Gentleman” Jerry Valiant. Lawler replies that he has no problem slapping around Jerry Valiant next week, just make sure Valiant is ready.

The show ends with David McLane recapping the action before saying goodnight to everyone.

Some new deals for WWA. Like that Gagne comes here for a fresh start and gets involved with Lawler. big to build on. Liking these Hollywood Blondes. Spears was a very underrated manager, IMO.

Good stuff.

Lawler vs. Tonga was a long, promotion-spanning feud on the other board, so it's cool to see them face off here as well. Tonga and Lawler would have put together an awesome TV match.
